Karin's Goddess Bracelets

After becoming interested in spirituality, I did research on prayer beads/prayer necklaces and wanted to make some. Through further research, my inclination turned to making Goddess bracelets. These are beaded bracelets strung on wire. Each one is hand made and designed specifically to one of the Goddesses I have researched. I use color, gemstones and charms to represent each Goddess. Some bracelets are glass beads and charms only, some have gemstones.

I make these bracelets as a form of meditation, focus and connection. I did not start with with ideas of my own business, or even selling them. I like to create. I get tremendous satisfaction from making these. I do it at my own pace. Generally I try to keep beads in counts of 3 to represent maiden, mother and crone, unless a specific goddess connects with a different number.

I photograph each bracelet design as I finish it. Even with the photos, however, each bracelet will differ. As I do more research and find better resources for affordable supplies, each bracelet changes and improves. All bracelets strung on wire and have a clasp. I will be updating photos as I can. Some will take longer to complete than others due to cost and supply availability. I'm having trouble finding certain charms (raven, lotus, peacock, weaving, etc.) that are important symbols of some of the Ladies. I have the pouches and have designed the cards to go with each bracelet. All bracelets are approximately 7-1/2".

Pagan Picnic was a blast!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to see us! Jason, Melissa and I had a great time and were all extremely pleased that we all came home with no business cards left and a little extra cash in our pockets. It was great to see so many familiar faces and wonderful to meet new ones! We will be back in 2010!

Moonbeam On...

Aradia di Toscano

The growth of Italian Witchcraft began when a peasant girl, Aradia di'Toscana (one of many spelling variations), had a vision along the shores of Lake Nemi in the Alban Hills region of Italy. In this vision, the Goddess Diana commissioned Aradia to return the ancient Pagan arts ("La Vecchia Religione" or "The Old Religion") back to the people from whom the church had stolen their pride and dignity. Aradia then set forth on a mission to teach the lost arts which she herself had learned from her grandmother. She was widely accepted among the peasantry wherever she visited and became known as "La Bella Pelegrina" ("The Beautiful Pilgrim"). Hunted down by the established church, Aradia was forced to leave Italy at sometime during her quest. Her followers continued the work she, "The Holy Strega," had begun; but the movement went underground when the Italian Inquisition began its organized persecution of so-called "witches" in the 16th century. At that point, the faithful divided the teachings into three clans: The Fanarra, The Janarra and The Tanarra. To each of these Clans was kept the practice of the three components of the art: Earth Magik, Moon Magik, and Star Magik, respectively. It was the hope of the elders that by dividing the teachings, at least one aspect of Streghería would survive the Inquisition. As fate would have it, all three survived, passed down through generations of Italian hereditary witches.

Today, Raven Grimassi has been the leader in the resurgence of Streghería. A hereditary Witch himself, Grimassi has sought to re-unite the teachings of the three clans back into one full system. His system, the Aridian Tradition, is a re-assembling of the three divided Clans and a break-away from hereditary blood lineage, attempting to share the knowledge with all who are sincerely interested. While Streghe (Italian plural for "witches") consider themselves cousins to those who practice Wicca, they see themselves as separate and different.
