GLS 2010

Sound, Structure, Meaning: Explorations at the Interface

 

  February 12-14, 2010

Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.

 

Sound, Structure, Meaning: Explorations at the Interface will highlight the importance of interface studies through in depth explorations of the relationships between grammatical systems. Keynote speakers include Angelika Kratzer (The University of Massachusetts, Amherst), Alec Marantz (New York University), and John Beavers (The University of Texas at Austin). 

 

We invite abstracts on the following interface topics:

  • Syntax-Semantics
  • Syntax-Morphology
  • Syntax-Phonology
  • Phonology-Morphology
  • Phonology-Phonetics
  • Lexicon-Syntax
  • Semantics-Pragmatics
  • Papers on any other relevant interface studies are welcome. 

 

Presentations will be 20 minutes each with 10 minutes for discussion. A poster session is also available.  Student presentations are especially encouraged.

 

All abstracts should be anonymous and in pdf format as follows:

1 page, 1 inch margins, 12pt font with a second page for examples and references.

Acceptance response in November 2009.

 

GLS 2010 is a conference run by the graduate students in the Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University. The conference will include three days of paper and poster presentations by students as well as invited plenary addresses and panel discussions by established scholars.
