Star Wars Custom Action Figures Here are all the custom Star Wars figures I have completed so far. From left to right, top to bottom they are... 1. Red Battle Droid w/ removable limbs from the prequels dry brushed with black acrylic paint to look dirty. I don't collect prequel figures, but he came with the 3PO figure in an AOTC "Droid Assembly Line" deluxe figure set. I'll probably just use him for filler in a Jawa or Jabba's Dungeon diorama. 2. Vintage 8D8 figure dry brushed with brown acrylic paint. I plan to make a Jawa Sandcrawler Dio someday and I'll probably stick him in there as filler. I love this figure because he looks so sad. 3 & 4. Vintage Rebel B-Wing Pilots. I've had these since I was a kid and their paint was a little rough, so I touched them up and dry brushed them with black acrylic paint to make them look dirty. These were the first two figures I'd ever repainted and now that I've had more practice, I feel like I could re-repaint them eventually and make them look a lot better. I wish Hasbro would release their updated B-Wing Pilot as a basic, carded figure. 5. Custom Saurin Figure. The body is from a POTF2 Yavin Ceremony Luke Skywalker figure and the head came from a Vintage Bossk figure I bought at a yard sale. I painted him with acrylic paints and did his scales with a green, fine point Sharpie. He's not supposed to be anyone in particular, I just thought the color scheme would look cool. There are a lot of these aliens in the Cantina Scene, It's suprising that Hasbro hasn't made an Official Saurin figure yet. Here's a tip: Sharpie marks bleed when you spray them with dullcoat! 6. Custom "Crispy-Fried" Greedo. To reposition his legs I soaked him in boiling water to soften the plastic, then I bent them into the desired position and held them that way in a sink full of ice water. I cut a hole in his chest and dry brushed him with black acrylic paint to give him that charred look. 7. Green Tonnika Sister. I tried to do a little research about the Tonnika Sisters on Wookiepedia and just got a headache. I don't know what her real name is and I dont really care, but the Mos Eisley Cantina is such a meat market that I wanted to do a female custom for a future diorama. She began life as a Dragonball Z "Bulma" figure. I thought the sculpt was good and the articulation and scale is similar to modern Star Wars figures. Obviously, she's very inaccurate to the character in the movie but I think she still looks cool. I used sculpty to make the braided hair on the top of her head and repainted her with acrylic paints. 8. Vintage Chief Lumat Ewok Custom. I bought this figure years ago at a yard sale and recently found out it was a Lumat figure with Chief Chirpa's hood. I dry brushed him with black acrylic paint and added some brown paint to his hood. I bought a "Cemetary Warrior" figure from the Indiana Jones line for the purse and dart gun accessories. 9. Custom Oola. I could never find Hasbro's official Oola figure for a reasonable price, so I decided to make my own. This was an Ayy Vida figure from AOTC. The joints at her knees were really loose, so I filled them in with sculpty so she'd be easier to paint. I knew that crafting her leg-warmers from some material would probably be too hard for me, so I made some out of sculpty instead. After that I repainted her with acrylic paints. She's not 100% accurate, but she still looks good. This is my latest custom and I think I've improved a lot! 10. Custom C-3PO repaint. This 3PO came in a deluxe Droid Factory set with the Battle Droid and his paint scheme looked nothing like he did in the Original Trilogy. I repainted him with acrylic paint and tried to make him look a little dirty. 11. Custom R2-D2 repaint. This was just an old POTF2 version of R2 that I repainted to look dirty with some acrylic paints. Thanks for looking! 090127IceChest
