Genocide and AIDS/HIV

posted Feb 18, 2010 6:57 AM by Bryan Scheely

We are moving along at a good pace so far.  We have discussed the Cold War and have seen how it helped shape the state our world is in today.  We will continue to cover different countries and the problems they face as the semester rolls along.  Right now we will be moving on to Africa and some of the global issues they have experienced.  First we will talk about genocide, specifically the Rwanda Genocide.  We will then move on to one of the most deadly disease of our worlds history.  We will learn about AIDS/HIV and how it has affected our world.

The Cold War

I enjoyed the first week of class with everyone, and am looking forward to the rest of the semester.  We are moving into the Cold War era now in class, and as we do so, think about how WWI, WWII, and the Cold War are all related.  We will continue to cover the events that took place during this era, and will examine Europe over the next week or so.

Welcome!

Welcome to Global Issues.  I am looking forward to spending the next semester with all of you.  Throughout this course, we will examine the many global challenges that have emerged in recent history.  We will examine the many factors that have led to both conflicts and peace around the globe.  We will begin with the Cold War, and the state our world was left in following the events that took place during that time period.
