The media was invited to cover the main arena cement pour on Wednesday, August 19 at the Independence Events Center. It took thirty trucks to pour enough cement to cover the 75,000 square foot arena floor. The scoreboard and lights have been hung in the community ice rink
 
Missouri Maverick hockey announcements are coming out on a daily basis as the final home and away schedules were released to the public. The team adds hockey players to roster almost on a daily basis. In September the first concert announcements will be announced to the public adding to the hype surrounding November’s Grand Opening.
 
The Independence Events Center administrative office added three new full time employees. Debra Brunton, our new Director of Finance comes to the Independence Events Center with a background in public accounting and experience in national, regional and local CPA firms. Jim Cundiff, formally with Centerplate has filled the position of Food and Beverage Director and Justin Kennedy from Mediacom Ad Sales joined the Independence team as a Director of Sales.
 
Final arrangements are underway for the Grand Opening Celebration on November 7.  This will be the public’s first chance to tour the new Independence Events Center. Thousands expected to attend the Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
