| This site is to support and provide resources for the students in the Global Communications program at Capuchino High School. Students today have access to a vast assortment of media and tools that were not available just a few years ago. As they advance through the educational system and on into the world of work, the way they interact in casual, academic and professional settings will continue to change. The Global Communications program is designed to provide students with a new and different definition of literacy and ethics in our society and equip them with the skills necessary to be productive citizens in a Global Society.
The Global Communications program is a three-course cohort of 9th grade students who work collaboratively to learn and understand the changing nature of information and its effect on society. The video above is from the Digital Arts Alliance and is titled, "Learning to Change - Changing to Learn." It is a short compilation of interviews of how Education is going to change over the next 10 - 15 years. The Global Communications course is divided into two semesters, each with a theme. Fall Semester Theme: Individual's Relationship with Self. Students are enrolled in: Global Communications, English 1 and Health.
Students study themes dealing with their personal decisions and history. What role does family and friends play in this process? Spring Semester Theme: Individual's Relationship with Society. Students are enrolled in: Global Communications, English and Contemporary World Studies Students study themes dealing with the relationship between themselves and society, within and outside of the United States. What role does culture and government play in this process?
