Dear Friend,

It looks as though Senator Clinton will likely be leading us as the next Secretary of State.  We need your help to seize this moment and ensure she and her transition team are informed of the inequalities that face our workforce.  We are asking our colleagues and friends across the Department and the foreign affairs agencies to sign the letter below that GLIFAA will send to our next Secretary, to let her know that we serve as one team, and that all we ask is to be treated as equal members of that team.  A strong show of support from our straight colleagues is critical to us at this time.

After you sign below, we will email you at the .gov email address you provide to confirm your participation.  Please help us spread the word - ask your friends and colleagues to visit this website and sign their names to this letter as well.  We ask that signatures be submitted no later than January 20, 2009.  We will deliver an official copy of this letter immediately following the confirmation of the next Secretary, and we will update it at that time with the latest known names of cabinet members.

On behalf of the entire GLIFAA board, I want to thank you for your support of equality, and for remembering the service of your colleagues.

Yours Truly,

J. Michelle Schohn

President, Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA)
