Biography

I have been creating works of art since the age of seventeen. Originating from Christchurch, New Zealand and studying at Canterbury School of Fine Arts during the 1970’s. (That's me in the photo 1973 at Art School) I'm now based in the beautiful Tasman Bay, top of the South Island of New Zealand.

I have progressed and developed as I experimented with a range of media over the years. Beginning with colourful abstracts (oil on canvas) I then moved into sculpture using brass, wood, papier-mâché and natural objects such as pebbles, bark, twigs, and found objects.

Greatly enjoying sculpture I then expanded on this and began designing and creating rings and bracelets from silver. This led to my recent interest in copper as a medium and to a number of commissions.

Through a friend I was introduced to a practicing cast glass artist who kindly showed me her processes and helped me cast my first piece.

With a number of house alterations now complete I have a growing collection of copper taps, a copper hot water cylinder, cables and pipes. I hear them calling me already. Finally have a recent photo that I'm prepared to put up on the net. The one to the right was taken in 2010.

Discovery - Photo taken by Gemma, my daughter in 2005.

This website includes both my latest group of works and a number from the very early days, some of which I have re-worked over the last few years. I hope you enjoy the journey. Art is a work in progress.
