About Me

How to stalk me on the internet

Hey ! Hang On ! I'm a Pro Privacy zealot, who is anti ID Cards, and knows a bit about identity fraud .... why the hell would I want to allow people to find out more info about me ?

It comes down to one word ...... CHOICE

I don't think ID Cards are a bad idea, I just think MANDATORY ID Cards are a bad idea (along with the governments proposed implementation and the fact they'll not solve half the problems it's claimed they will). I would hate to think I would have to submit my daily goings on, my choice of music, choice of books, choice of friends, lists of business contact, details of projects I'm involved with and charties I support, to some third party. But I find it both intresting and fun that I can choose to do this and to be selective about what info I share with whom. What's more, even the bits of information that don't rely on me to authorize people to view the data, I can still choose not to have it made public by not using that service.

So, here is a list of link to services I use and the username you can find me under. Enjoy your stalking.

Stalk Me !

Social Networking

  • Facebook: Glenn Pegden . I both check and post updates to this, although an I quite selective about who I add on my friends list.
  • Twitter: SlamTiltUK . I'm currently finding posting updates to this quite fun. I have it set to update my facebook status too.
  • Monochrome BBS: Tilt  The online equivalent of the local pub where the same faces have been going for years and the decor never changes either. I've been on here since almost the beginning (199 2).
  • LinkedIn: Glenn Pegden . Rarely used, but a few old friends have got in contact through this.
  • MSN Messenger: glennpegden . I'm not one for using Instant Messengers much, but I do use MSN occasionally. I'm very selective about who I add to my friends on here.
  • Live Journal: Slam-Tilt . I didn't think I'd be much of a blog writer and I was right. I average a post a year and use it mainly to nosey what my friends have to say. Almost every post of flagged friends-only.
  • Google Mail/Chat: glennpegden@gmail.com . See MSN.
  • Friends Reunited: Glenn Pegden . See Linked In.

Gaming

  • Xbox Live: SlamTIltUK. I don't get a much time on my XBox as I'd like and when I do, I'm rarely gaming online.
  • World of Warcraft: Tiltriataur on Azjol-Nerub (EU)
  • Rage of Ancients: Tilt What started out as a small favour soon landed in my lap. A non-profit website I look after for the guild. Thankfully it's relatively low maintainence

BRFC

  • www.brfcs.com: Glenn. The site myself and Ste have been "caretaker managers" of for many years. I never has as much time to dedicate to this as I should (or indeed as I once did), thankfully we now have a great group of mods doing all the hard work.

Music

  • Last.FM: SlamTIltUK. Your chance to see just how eclectic my musical tastes are !
  • Carter USM 4um  Tilt. I mainly lurk and rarely post, but Carter are still the greatest kick-arse rock and roll band in the world.

WoW Mod Writing

I've written a number of wow mods, but thankfully either the game has been improved or better mods have come along, making mine superfluous, so I no longer maintain them.

  • WoWInterface: Tilt
  • wowace.com: TIlt
  • Curse Gaming: SlamTilt

PS2 Homebrew

I am now longer active in the PS2 home brew development community. But I have in the past contributed code to a couple of popular projects (including PS2Menu).

General Geekery

  • Slashdot: SlamTilt

Projects

Current Projects & Ideas

What with a very busy job, an active social life, playing Warctaft and watching Blackburn Rovers, I simply don't have much time for projects any more. But a few I keep consider carrying on with include.

Rovers Wiki . For me, this had potential to become the best part of brfcs.com, but sadly we're light on volunteers.

Guild Management Book. When I realized that Guild Management is a mix of spots team management and all the stuff I'd read in every effective management book, I decided I could write my own on it. I got a couple of chapters down and have the structure for the rest, I just don't simply have the time.

Warcraft Lore Time Line. Ever since I got sucked into the lore of Warcraft I've been puzzled over the time line and would love to do one. I have a vision, I probably have a lot of the source material. Yet again, I lack time.

Family Tree. My mum's cousin (is that my second cousin) has dedicate most of his adult life to researching his family tree and I find it fascinating. I'd love to spend some time doing mine
.

Dead Projects & Ideas

Elite: A New(er) Kind. When Christian Pinder reversed engineered the original BBC Micro game Elite and released the source as Elite: A New Kind, with his permission I set about enhancing it in a similar way to Alex Duggan's Elite-A for the beeb. When Christian was issued with a take-down notice I stopped development of my version.

Labyrinth of LaCocshe. This text adventure was on of the first two games I bought for my beloved BBC B and the fact I could always read but never understand it's source code intrigued me. As my coding got better an I understood the concept of obfuscation I set about unraveling it, with a view to porting it to the InfoZip text adventure engine. I've tried unsucessfully to track down the original author although people have suggested it may be Mirco Power founder Bob Shepherd,

Meck. Monochrome Easy Connection Kit. One thing I do in my day job was write installer scripts, so when somebody suggested a pre-packaged version of putty that automatically installed desktop/start menu links to connect to mono, I volunteered. This is now a dead project simply because it just works.

PS1 Explorer/Xploder Stuff I started by generating cheat codes for the Xplorer cheat cartridge and added them to the XICCC (Xplorer International Code Creators Club), but I soon learned the rom in them could be reflashed to firmware that could be used for much more fun things such as running home brew software. As documentation was scarce I knocked together a couple of howto guides and an FAQ which are still floating around the net (and still generating the odd email).
