Venturing
If you found your way here, congratulations on surfing the newest webpage for GR! Right now, this page is informative; the focus soon will be to have information (and pictures) about activities our youth participate in for Venturing. Activities various crews have experienced in the past include: SCUBA, high ropes course/COPE, shooting (rifle, shotgun, black powder, handgun, archery), canoeing, whitewater rafting, service work, rock wall climbing, Tower climbs, Tinnerman, Sea Base and Philmont as well as one crew's regular trips to Mt. Whitney.
What is Venturing? Venturing is part of the program of the Boy Scouts of America for young adults, men and women, between the ages of 14 (having completed the eighth grade) and 21. Its purpose is to provide positive experiences to help youth mature and to prepare them to become responsible adults. Sea Scouting is the nautical oriented organizational option within Venturing.

Most Venturing activities will be found on the Greater Cleveland Council page in Facebook. If you haven't signed up for a Facebook account yet, it's really painless and quite easy to create.
Feel free to contact any of our crews to find out what they are up to lately! Crew 1, Crew 461, Crew 662.

browser Venturing Award UPDATE!!!! Congratulations are in order for Anna McDonough, President of Crew 662!!! Anna is one of two youth recipients of this year's Venturing Leadership Awards, presented by the Greater Cleveland Council. Anna will receive her award at the Council Recognition Dinner on Sunday March 8, 2009 (Windows on the River Restaurant). 2009 Venturing Leadership Award Nomination Information Venturing Leadership Awards have been presented to 6 adults and 6 youth over the last 5 years: based on our number of units, we could award as many as 3 each of these each year, but we must have nominations (see attached form). Even exceptional leadership at the unit level should be considered. Active participation in the VOA certainly raises the visibility of candidates but is not a requirement. For those who nominated someone who didn’t get it last year, please submit updated nominations.
Past recipients:
Notice that both Youth and Adult are honored each year.
