Goals of the Glacier Ridge District
Camp Promotions and Outdoors Committee

Let's face it!  Camping is one of the main reasons boys join Scouts, so let's make sure that our compouts are safe, action-packed, and FUN!  Please call me, Ed Hargate, Committee Chair, at 440-473-5476 to discuss your plans for camping.

Our Glacier Ridge District camping and outdoor activity goals are:
  • To encourage unit outdoor programs by conducting a camp promotion presentation to every unit.
  • To make sure every Cub Scout and Boy Scout in the Glacier Ridge has an opportunity to go to camp.
  • To promote year-round outdoor programs
  • To contact every Pack and Troop in the District to ascertain its summer camping plans.
  • For those units who have no plans - to help them make plans to go to camp.
  • Ensure that every troop in the District attends a long-term summer camp.
  • To make sure every Troop and Crew in the District has the opportunity to have a high adventure activity.
  • To promote camperships for needy Scouts..
  • To promote the use of the National Camping Award and to assist Troops in the filling of the application form for this Award.
  • To promote the use of camp standards and policies including filing appropriate tour permits for camping events.
  • To promote the Order of the Arrow as an honorary camping society for service to Scouts and Scou.t Units.
Remember, I want to talk to every Cub Pack, Scout Troop, and Venturing Crew in the Glacier Ridge District about your camping activities. Please call me, Ed Hargate, Committee Chair at 440-473-5476 and let me know what your plans are for the year ahead.  Here are some pictures of outstanding camping adventures by our own Troop 461.
