WHY JOIN ROTARACT? The Opportunity to Serve- Rotaract is a service club. Its business is mankind; its product is service. Alongside Rotarians, Rotaractors provide community service - to both the local and international communities. This is the best reason perhaps for becoming a Rotaractor: The chance to do something for somebody else. And to sense the self-fulfillment which comes in the process. Rotaractors believe in “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.” Friendship- In an increasingly complex world, Rotaract provides one of the most basic human needs: The need for friends and fellowship. It is one of the two reasons why Rotary began in 1905. Business Development- The second original reason for Rotary's beginning. Everyone needs to network. Rotaract consists of a young cross section of every business community. Its members come from all walks of life. Rotaractors help one another, and collectively help others. Personal Growth and Development- Membership in Rotaract continues one's growth and education in human relations and personal development. Leadership Development- Rotaract is an organization of future leaders and successful people. Serving in Rotaract board positions is like a college education in Leadership: Learning how to motivate, influence and lead leaders. Citizenship in the Community- Membership in a Rotaract club makes one a better community citizen. The average Rotaract club consists of the most active young professionals of any community (if they are not already in Rotary). Continuing Education- Each week at Rotaract there is a program designed to keep one informed as to what is going on in the community, nation, and world. Different speakers, different topics. Fun- Rotaract is fun! We are a young group of professionals who like to have fun! We aim to make our meetings fun! All club projects are designed to be fun! Social activities are fun! All of this makes the service fun! Public Speaking Skills- Did you know that most people rank speaking in public as their greatest fear, even greater than the fear of death?! Rotaract helps to develop confidence and skill in public communication by creating opportunities. Citizenship in the World- As a Rotaractor, you are linked into the Rotary community. Every Rotarian wears a pin that says: "Rotary International." And, every Rotarian is welcome- even encouraged to attend- at over 28,000 clubs in the more than 188 nations and geographical regions. There are few places on the globe which do not have a Rotary club. Instant friends in both one¹s own community and in the world community. Rotaract itself has over 7,300 clubs in 163 countries! Assistance When Traveling- Because there are Rotary and Rotaract clubs everywhere, if you are traveling and need a doctor, lawyer, hotel, dentist, advice, etc., while traveling can contact any Rotary or Rotaract Club for assistance. Entertainment- Every district has parties and activities which provide diversion in one's business life. Rotary and Rotaract have conferences, conventions, assemblies, and institutes which provide entertainment in addition to information, education and service. The Development of Social Skills- Every week and at various events Rotaract develops one's personality, social and people skills, Rotaract is for people who like people. The Development of Ethics- Like Rotarians, Rotaractors practice a 4-Way Test which governs one's ethical standards. Rotaractors are expected to be ethical in business and personal relationships. Cultural Awareness- Around the world, practically every religion country, culture, race, creed, political persuasion, language, color and ethnic identity is found in the Rotary and Rotaract community. It is a cross section of the world's most prominent citizens from every background. Rotaractors become aware of other cultures and learn to love and work with people everywhere. They become better citizens of their countries in the process. Prestige- Young Professionals in Rotaract are on their way to leaders of business, professions, government, sports, military, religion and all disciplines. Linking with the prominence of Rotary, gives us an step up in the community. Rotary is the oldest and most prestigious service club in the world.
