'N' Scale Layout - British Diesel
Track:All N gauge Peco code 80 track. The layout is DC with section block switches. All (bar one) turnouts are Peco electrofrog. Track and accessory power supply is a Morley Controllers Vector Zero Two (which runs the older "Poole" Farish locomotives reasonably well).Locomotives:I'm a big fan of Graham Farish locomotives. This includes the new made-in-China models as well as the older UK produced models.
Rolling Stock:My favourite vendor for rolling stock is Graham Farish, followed closely by Dapol and then Peco. I have never had much luck with the plastic wheels on Peco rolling stock so that is why I rate them low. Changing the wheels to Graham Farish metal ones fixes a lot of problems (generally all you need to do is file the hub points down a little and they slide right into the Peco chassis). I haven't had enough Lima stuff to comment on them, although the wagon I do have seems grossly over-sized.
'OO' Scale Layout - Early British Diesel Track:All OO gauge Peco code 100 track. All turnouts are Peco electrofrog. This is a simple shunting layout consisting of two turnouts. I built it to test the Wrenn 'OO' gear below and to see what modelling in 'OO' scale would be like.Locomotives:
