The Gateway Center of downtown Atlanta works with the
Regional Commission on Homelessness to provide much-needed services to the
homeless population of Atlanta. The Gateway Center offers a day center
where people can come rest, shower, receive basic medical care, and do
laundry. To help the Gateway Center with their mission, GIVE collected
hygiene kits for donation. These kits included basic hygiene products
(soap, toothpaste, etc) and towels that could be distributed by the Gateway
Center to their target population. The Gateway Center also provides a
270-bed men's dormitory that includes separate wards for post-hospitalization
recovery, mental health patients, veterans, substance abuse recovery, and a
job-training center. In addition, a Women & Children's shelter
provides 30 beds for families, to which GIVE was pleased to donate several
boxes of diapers and baby formula. Thank you so much to everyone who
participated, and we hope to work with the Gateway Center again in the future!
