  "Give Books Give Smiles" is not an organization, nor is it supported by one. It's an individual's effort supported by friends and family to bring books to poor and unprivileged children in India. These children never have gotten an opportunity to go to school. They probably have never seen or touched a book which made them smile. "Give Books Give Smiles" wants to bring smiles to these children by giving them books which they can look at (remember they can't read) and feel the joy that they deserve. Will you accept all kind of books? Currently, we are only accepting children books in donation; books which are supported with visual content, bold illustrations, vibrant colors or fun features like LEDs etc. It's important for us to focus on only those books which don't have to be read in order to be understood. Why can't I get these books in India? Mostly because such books are not readily available there and if they are then they too expensive to purchase because they are imported from the US or some other country. There is no concept of second hand stores or barely any, and the libraries unfortunately are not accessible to these kids. The only way I can do is by collecting books here in the United State and take them to India. Where will the books come from?
We are hoping to get books in donation. If you have children books which have been lying on your book shelf for a long time and you no longer need them, please send them our way so we can put them to good use.
I don't have books to donate. How can I help?
I have friends who don't have kids and so don't have any children books to donate. But, they feel strongly about the cause and want to help. If you're in the same boat, you can still help us.
1. You can help us spread the word around by letting your friends and family members know about us. E-mail them a link to this page.
2. You can buy a book from a thrift store. If you see a children's book and you feel generous, buy it and send it to us. Your effort will be greatly appreciated.
3. You can contribute by making a donation towards the international shipping and handling cost of the books. 4. You can also contribute by sharing your idea to make this program better.

Where can I send the books? Please email me for details. How will the books get to the kids in India? It'll depend on the number of books we accumulate at the end of each 'gathering period'. I'll either take the books with me in my luggage or will ship them in boxes. What's 'gathering period'? Gathering period is a term I like to use for the time-frame within which I'll be accepting donations of books. How will I know the books I donated got to the kids?
