The Backstory...


Over the last ten years I have been involved in close cooperation with various humanitarian efforts in the Central Mass area - both out of necessity and in a volunteer capacity.   It has been a wonderful experience to meet and work with the founders of these efforts and other volunteers, so graciously sharing their time.  These remarkable individuals have played a key role in shaping the vision of hope I see before us today.  It is through the eyes of these people and those that they service, that I have been able to peer into the worlds of a population in need; the cycle they struggle so hard with - and the tremendous opportunity for growth that is largely overlooked. 

Walking in my own shoes of single motherhood, my experience has also afforded me the empathy necessary to see in particular, the struggles of other single parents - and the system it seems so difficult for them to escape.   It has truly been a journey full of challenges and equal victory, but one prevailing conviction has remained strong throughout it all.   It is that we, the single parent population, are one of the most resourceful and creative groups that I've ever witnessed - in large part out of necessity.  If we were actually able to pool our strengths, the capacity for improving our lives and the lives of our children would compound exponentially.   From this deep rooted conviction, The Love Well Initiative is born.

   What we are proposing plans to create the spine in which to rebuild these families, decidedly putting the choice back into the hands of the only people who have the power to break the cycle once and for all.  The single parents themselves.  Working hand in hand with the areas existing humanitarian efforts, we will strive to breath new life into their very important contributions through fiscal sponsorship.  Our goal is to restore some much needed hope to causes that we can't afford to lose as we heal the wound at its source.   We hope to serve as a catalyst to give rise to the voice of the overlooked and the underestimated.   

Our mission is to educate, inform and foster community empowerment through the development of emotional support systems, resource referral, and child care coops.  We will achieve this through  the implementation of  a four-phased program that will address the financial, spiritual, and practical challenges that this population faces.  The highest ideal of our mission is to duplicate this program - state wide, and create new opportunities for giving back.
