Gisimba Memorial Center (GMC) is an orphanage located in Kigali City, Rwanda.  GMC serves about 200 Rwandan children who have been orphaned due to the 1994 genocide, HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other tropical diseases, poverty and abandonment.  The center has three main goals:
  •  To ensure that all of their children complete school so they can become independent, find employment and contribute the country's development;
  • To become self sufficient and not have to rely on outside sources for funding and also increase their budget to give better conditions for the children.  To reach this goal they are working on self-sustaining projects, such as keeping cows for milk to use and sell; and
  • To continue to provide a nurturing home environment for Rwandan children.
