This is a painting that I did of the greenway which runs beside the Roaoke River for several miles and will eventually go from east of Roanoke to the Salem area I think. This view is where it goes under the 9th Street SE bridge. Another view of the greenway looking up stream towards the last view at 9th Street SE. My daughter and I rode bikes along the river which inspired this series of paintings. The painting I did of the Lavender Guinea was done for the SPCA benefit show that was held at the Taubman Museum in Roanoke. This bird was killed by a hawk attack so I did a painting of him that was taken just before the tragic event on a cold winter sunrise when all four Guineas were fluffed up setting in the first rays. A nice warm spring day at the Sidewalk Art Show in Roanoke. I set up my tent and in between sales I did a little painting. I got it nearly completed and then put some finishing touches on in the studio this winter. The Taubman Museum is in the background. Pigs were on my mind one day recently as we plan on raising some on the farm this year. These pigs were on a farm down the road from us. I enjoyed watching them root up the ground as piggies will do.
