Some helpful hints

We understand hardships everyone has suffered and the best way to facilitate change is ensuring your local and state politicians are involved and engaged.  When contacting them you need to be clear and concise about the facts and keep the raw emotions to a minimum.

It is easy to twist emotions however twisting the truth is harder to do when you stick to the facts. The clearer you are in your communications leaves little room for misinterpretation by your local politicians and how they should represent your view.

1.    List the events in the order they happened.

2.    State the exact number of days without power.

3.    Itemize the financial costs you incurred because of the storm ie: Damages, food loss, repairs, etc.

4.    If you called the customer service line and were treated poorly or verbally abused, make sure you explain in

exact detail of what happened, name of person you talked to, tone of conversation and what was the result if any.

5.    What your average bill was before the storm and what your estimated bill is now.

6.    Why are the bills so diffacult to read and understand.

7.    Why is UNITIL still using estimated bills with the level of technology availible today. You don't pay a

an estimated price for milk when you go to the grocery store.

8.    Make sure you let them know you are entitled to a follow-up to your concerns and give a time line as to when

       you  expect a reply.

9.    If you don't get a reply make sure you call within a couple of days after the expected reply date

and ask what is the status.

10.  Most important is to keep a log of all your communications, date, time, who you wrote or talked to and

       resolution if any!!!!!

The point is to show the inconsistent  and billing practices of UNITIL such as inflated bills and hazardous situations that remain as a result from inadequate response such as loose or broken wires & downed transformers, etc.
