Total number is down from 260 to 253. Indiana is up from 9 to 14 (retention ponds, maybe?). Texas is up from 15 to 23. Ohio down from 6 to 4. Missouri up from 7 to 11. Louisiana up from 15 to 18. Kentucky down from 6 to 3. Florida down from 50 to 34. California down from 29 to 17. Idaho up from 6 to 10. |
Since these statistics were gathered, NHTSA has revised the methodology for tracking vehicle immersion accidents. As a result, there are actually approximately 100 more fatalities per year than previously estimated. These figures do not include off-road accidents.
