Dear Mobster Team,
All I can Say is WOW!!!
I know you were busy when I rang you last night but I think I have found a "killer" feature of the Mobster service and I was so excited I had to give you a call right away. Pre-Paid cellphone subscribers using Mobster also save big when they call other wireless carriers!
I have used AT&T GoPhone (pre-paid) for my mobile service since we returned from overseas 3 years ago.
It has the advantages of no contract and free calls to my other AT&T mobile users and I have my Wife, my Mom and my Son on the service, which I top up from time-to-time, much as I would if they were all on my Mobster box (Wife and Son are).
Normal rates to other non-AT&T phones are billed at 10 cents/minute, which is a bit high, however, it keeps you from being too chatty which is probably a good thing when you are busy working.
I have noticed however, when I call friends or business contacts (last names deleted) on other mobile networks, GoPhone charges me up to 25 cents per minute.
People like Gene D (Verizon) Mike R (T-mobile) and my Sister (Alltel) who are on non-native mobile services generate a higher tariff on GoPhone with my sister's being the highest (25 cents/minute)
Yesterday I decided to test what the result would be if I ran these calls through my Mobster SpeakEasy box and then called these three people for a known length of time (2 Minutes).
You are billed for the time by GoPhone, regardless of whether you actually speak to them, so in calling my Sister, I left a voicemail of just under 2 minutes duration. Gene and Mike I spoke to directly and explained I was conducting a test and would "ring-off" at the 2 minute mark. They were happy to be my "Test Dummies".
Here are the results of my test:
  • Call to my Sister (Alltel) through Mobster box-20 cents Direct through GoPhone would have cost 50 cents
  • Call to Mike R (T-Mobile) through Mobster-20 cents Direct through GoPhone would be 40 cents
  • Call to Gene D (Verizon) through Mobster-20 cents Direct through GoPhone would be 40 cents
Conclusion: In just 3 calls I saved 70 cents using the Mobster box on a Pre-Paid mobile phone!
I spent 3 hours in GoPhones' website (AT&T) trying to find published rates for the "off-net" calls to other US wireless carriers and guess what? All they basically say (in legal longhand) is they can charge whatever they want and can terminate service for too many "off-net calls". Guess I better set up a cell phone company for all the people that get "booted" from AT&T Wireless!
Thanks for making your Mobster service a money saver for all  Pre-Paid Subscribers as well as those on standard billing wireless services!
