• Mobster Member – “Hey Joe, have you heard about Mobster”?
• Non-Mobster friend – “Hey Bob, no, what’s Mobster”?
• Bob - “Internet calls from your mobile phone for cheap long distance rates”.
• Joe - “How do you make internet calls from a mobile phone? Is it like Skype™ or something that works on cell phones”?
• Bob – “Sort of, but you don’t need a special phone or download or broadband or anything; It just puts dial tone on your phone and you make the call to wherever you want. They give you an hour worth of free long distance just for signing up”.
• Joe – “Cool, I never make long distance calls from my cell ‘cause my carrier charges big bucks per minute. I called Mexico once while my Wife was down there on business and it was like fifty cents a minute and I got a huge bill”.

1. Bob – “OK, go ahead and send this text message” ‘800mobster”
2. Joe – “OK, 800mobster, hit send….done!

At this point the Mobster message server sees the inbound text message and captures the sender’s mobile phone number and automatically reserves the sender an associated Mobster (DID) number in the same area code as the senders mobile phone number. It then sends a reply text to the sender asking if the sender would like to subscribe to Mobster.

• Joe – “ Hey it just text’d me back asking if I want to Get Made”
• Bob – “ Right, just reply with ‘YES” and it will finish the sign-up”
• Joe – “ Cool OK, Y-E-S…send, OK, sent it”

At this point the Mobster message server sees the ‘YES confirmed” text message and re-confirms the sender’s mobile phone number and automatically assigns the requester an associated Mobster User Name and Password along with the Mobster DID number. It then sends a “Welcome to Mobster” text to the sender with their Mobster DID number, the new Members User Name and Password (which can both be changed/personalized on the website after the first login) and confirmation of 60 minutes of free long-distance calling credit, along with a link to the Mobster Login Page and suggestion that the new subscriber save their Mobster number in the “speed-dial” list on their mobile phone.

• Joe – “ OK, its text’d me back and says my Mobster number is 858 555 1234, my User Name is Mob858x2121 and my password is mws1650mobi and to put the Mobster number in my speed-dial or save it as “Mobster” in my Contacts”.
• Bob – “Yeah, I put mine in my speed-dial on button position #7 and when I hold down the 7 button it sends me my dial-tone, then I make my call just like a regular long-distance call from a landline”.
• Joe – “Let me see, yeah, I’ll put it on button #9…there, it’s in”!
• Bob – “So go ahead and hit it and call someone when you get the dial-tone”.
• Joe – “OK, let me pull up my friends number in London. They’re 8 hours ahead so it’s about 6PM there. He’ll be around I think”.

Joe holds button #9 down for 2 seconds, activating his speed-dial function on his cell phone, which places the call to his Mobster (858 555 1234) number. He immediately hears dial tone and dials his friends London number (011-44-7900-832-194).

• London Friend ‘Ian’ – “ Hello Ian here”
• Joe – “Hey Ian it’s Joe calling from California. How’s it going man”?
• Ian – “Brilliant Mate! How’s things in sunny California? You all right”?
• Joe – “Excellent bro’, just checking out a new service called Mobster that allows me to call overseas on my mobile phone for cheap”!
• Ian – “That’s a new one; I don’t use my mobile to call overseas as my carrier charges a bloody fortune! I use calling cards from my landline or I’d pay through the nose! Does it work from the UK to the US? Would it work on my mobile”?

• Joe – “OK, call me back in a couple of minutes”.
