Data Atlas is a GIS Web interface designed to explore wellbore velocity (checkshot) locations in the Gulf of Mexico. The interface is built using a standalone version of ALOV Map/TMJava. A catalog of ESRI Shape files includes federal offshore areas, blocks and state boundaries.[1]
Search Well by Map
Use the select (pointer) tool and draw a polygon for area of interest. Upon release of mouse button, a small window reports layers. Select Checkshots. A listing of checkshots will appear in the report window. Click on a Name to map the checkshot of interest. Offshore blocks display within a 50 mile zoom.
Search Well by Text
Display layer once during the session prior to a text search. For checkshots, search for api or area/block. Display Checkshots layer. Select Checkshots from search list to query. In the Search Layer field:
- Example 1: enter AC for checkshots in Alaminos Canyon.
- Example 2: enter AC 0025 for checkshots in Alaminos Canyon Block 25.
- Example 3: enter 608224001 for API starting with 608224001.
A listing of checkshots will appear in the report window. Click on a Name to map the checkshot of interest. Offshore blocks display within a 50 mile zoom.
