My areas of competence are in:
  • Pragmatics

So far, my research questions have been concerned with:

  • Relevance-theoretic pragmatics and language use
  • Linguistics and philosophy as part of the cognitive sciences
I'm currently developing a project on the cognitive and linguistic-pragmatic construction of causality, where I ask what the mental mechanisms underlying causal cognition are and in what way they determine how people talk about causes.

Lately, I've also been developing an interest in theoretical fields outside my comfort-zone. These include:
  • The psychology and epistemology of testimony
  • The metaphysics of groups, mass psychology and collective responsibility
  • Determinism, free will and moral responsibility
