Rev. Dr. George M. Plasterer

My name is George Plasterer. Born in Minnesota, living there until 1970, and receiving my formal education at Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Kansas (now Oklahoma Wesleyan) and Indiana Wesleyan (both schools of the Wesleyan Church), my Master of Divinity at Asbury Thelogical Seminary in Kentucky and my Doctor of Ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. I have spent my life since I was ten growing in Christian faith and serving in the church. My passions have involved theology, discipleship and spiritual formation, evidenced in my participation in the Walk to Emmaus and Alpha programs, and in Bible study, evidenced in my commitment to the Disciple Bible Study program. I am deeply interested in the questions philosophers raise, especially as they assist me in reflecting upon what is happening in Western civilization and in America. I have love for the country, its democratic and free enterprise institutions, and the positive role it can play in the world. I have been a United Methodist pastor since 1978. The bishop of Indiana appointed me to retirement in June of 2017. Throughout this time i have enjoyed keeping physically fit through running, weight lifting, and tennis, and have recently added bicycling. I have been following a "Lifetime Reading Plan." It identifies something over 200 books one should read sometime in one's life. I have started reading biographies of presidents. In both cases, I intend to write essays connected to these readings. My wife, Suzanne, and I are enjoying life in Pinellas County.

This web site includes those areas of life and study about which I am most passionate. I went through a period of my life when I sought to identify my life mission. After much reflection, I realized that I love to learn and help other people to learn. I have several blogs through which I hope to continue this mission.

I have begun writing books. You can visit my Amazon auhor page

My first book is In the School of Scripture with Karl Barth: A Discussion of Church Dogmatics, Volume One: Prolegomena, Doctrine of God, and Doctrine of Creation and Volume Two: Doctrine of Reconciliation and Redemption

I am currently working on a Book of Prayers. I have a page that introduces you to the type of book it is.

My interest in the Bible showed up when I was 15 years old, and it has continued throughout my life, so I have page devoted to a projection of the books I would like write.

As a pastor, it is not surprising that I would have an interest discipleship and the Christian life, for which I have a page devoted to projected books in this area.

My interest in theology will lead to a book in which i will explore the Christian understanding of who God is as shown in Jesus as the Christ, to which i have devoted a page

In Plasterer's Pondering, I write articles related to contemporary issues, most of which i try to offer a biblical or theological perspective.

I have a facebook page and a twitter account. I invite you to include me in your social media.
