Dr George du Toit

George undertook a career in medicine, obtaining his MBBCh medical degree in 1993. He then qualified as a Specialist Paediatrician at the Red Cross Children's Hospital, University of Cape Town, before sub-specialising in his chosen niche of Allergy and Asthma. 
 
In 2003 George took up a post as consultant paediatric allergist and paediatrician at St Mary's Hospital, Imperial College, London. In 2007, George joined Prof Gideon Lack and Dr Adam Fox at the Children's Allergy Service at the Evelina Children's Hospital, St Thomas' HospitalGeorge holds the post of Honorary Senior Lecturer, Kings College London. George is lead clinician for the children's drug allergy and chronic urticaria clinics and is senior co-investigator on the NIH-funded Learning Early about Peanut Allergy Study (LEAP Study).  
 

Research & Publications:
 
In addition to the LEAP Study, George has research interests in: food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis, drug allergy, chronic urticaria and the food-protein induced enterocolitis syndrome. Please click here for articles published on food allergy, peanut allergyobesity,and lung disease.

Lectures:
 
George serves on the executive committee of the Allergy Academy and is convener of the Drug Allergy and Chronic Urticaria International Seminars. George has recently delivered lectures at numerous international conferences including the meetings of the BSACI, ERS, ALLSA, AAAAI and EAACI. George also gives public lectures for allergy charities, such as Action Against Allergy, UK Anaphylaxis Campaign, and The Allergy Show
