Color Blindness - Ben

Hi there. I have color blindness so I decided to choose this as my project.
Description-
Color Blindness is a genetic disorder. When most people hear "color blindness," they think somebody can't see color. But, they really can. What they can't do is find a difference in certain colors. For example, I can't find much of a difference between blue and purple. Color blindness is a mild genetic disorder in which millions of people are infected.

Treatment-
In reality, there is no treatment for color blindness. It is not significant or serious enough for scientists to research a cure for it. Infected people may find it very frustrating at times. Yet, in most cases it is not a big deal. So, the color blind just have to live with it.

Research-
The Navy and the air force  do not want color blind people to work for them. They don't want color blind people to work for them because they don't think that they can see as well as someone with perfect eyesight.  Although there is no cure, scientists have found a way for the color blind to get into the Navy and air force. For three weeks, the color blind would look at different colored slides. After three weeks, they could tell a small difference between some colors. Therefore, they could get into the Navy and air force.(1)

Current Events-

The first article that I read was on a digital camera website. (Dec. 18, 2008) It was a short article about the Photoshop CO product manager named Brian O'Neil Hughes. Like me, he has color blindness. So, he made his new product color blind proof. He was helped by the University of Tokyo and by a research institute in Ishikawa.(2)

The second article I found was about a concerned parent who thought that their boy had color blindness. (Jan. 14, 2009) The parent was talking to an online doctor. The Doctor recommended that the boy was to be taken to a doctor for a test. Or the boy could take an online Ishihara test. This was a very good article, please, follow this link to read it.(3)

Genetics-
In this section you will learn why mostly men have color blindness. Men have X and a Y chromosomes. Women have two X's. X is a very sturdy chromosome and Y isn't very stable. Sometimes the Y chromosome in the man can get mutilated. This can cause many diseases. Color blindness is one. There are many other chromosomes that can get mutilated but the X and the Y ones are the most popular.

A day in the life-

A day in the life of a color blind person can be just the same as someone without it. For example, I have color blindness and experience regular things. But there some dangers and difficulties to it. One very popular difficulty and danger is traffic lights. Although color blind people can't tell much of a difference, they have found a way to get by. What they do is remember that go is at the top of the lights and stop is at the bottom. There are many more things that get in the way. Like drawing with different colors, sometimes they might get mixed up and soon the naturalistic drawing is an abstract picture. Another thing would be getting things containing color. For example, a color blind man gets a green suit. Someone might say, "hey, why is he wearing a pink suit?" Sometimes, a day in the life of a color blind person can be very twisted.
