14 April 2012 Libby Urbahn  “Fighting Spirit” Researching your family’s military past Born in the UK, I have lived most of my life in Australia and New Zealand. I am a trained teacher and have spent most of my working life in education, health promotion and strategic planning working for an Area health Board, a Division of General Practice, a large teaching hospital in Queensland and an Independent General Practitioners Association. I have always been interested in writing but it wasn’t until 1994 that I started writing seriously, the result being my first book Eye of the Camel – an historical fiction based on a segment of my father’s life in Palestine prior to the creation of Israel. My second book, a novel on workplace bullying (Black Balloon – Surviving a workplace bully) was released in July 2008 by Brolga Publishing of Melbourne. I am currently writing my third novel, Tabariya, a sequel to Eye of the Camel. 04/12 http://www.elizabethurbahn.com/books.html
12 May 2012  Marilyn Kelly Researching my mother's Irish family history  Author of "A century of promise" - I am a retired Nurse. Apparently, I put on my mother's nursing cape when I was three years old, and that, it appears was that. My fate was sealed, and 37 years later I retired from nursing, only to be asked by my mother, “Now that you have retired, will you write down the family stories so that they don't get lost?” It must have been more than that question though, that set me off on a journey of discovery about my ancestors, because I have found notes that I made when I was fifteen years old recording family tree data from my grandmother, Tessie Moloney/Bright, My grandmother was born in 1884, and lived till just a few months from her 100th birthday, so she was very much in my life for almost 34 years. Six years of research and writing, and one very large book later, I had complied with my mother's wishes and produced my first family history book for her 80th birthday. The process has been an exhilarating, frustrating and very social one as I have travelled around the eastern states of Australia meeting extended family and collecting stories and photos. I fear it has become a life long enterprise, because there is always another mystery, another relative, an unknown photo, an off the cuff comment, that sets me off on my quest yet again.  05/12
