GENERAL MEETING

Saturday 14 November 2009

GUEST SPEAKER:

Max Chapman

 on

Bill "The Fiver" : the life and times of William Horton

Max has published a book on his ancestor, William Horton, mine host of the Bulls Head Inn at Drayton...
Max Chapman is the Great Great Grandson of the explorer, pastoralist, land developer and convict, William Horton. Bill Horton built the Royal Bull's Head Inn at Drayton in 1859 but it was his early history and how he overcame the shame of being a convict that little was known about.
Come along to hear Max tell the story of his great, great grandfather and the part he had to play in early Queensland history, as well as the fascinating tale of his early years and convict life.

ALL WELCOME

We have been able to purchase a high quality A3 scanner to enable us to scan historical photos, documents, maps, diaries, artwork and much more.

We are very grateful to the Nambour RSL Club for their funding of $3000 towards the cost of this equipment and also to our members who have contributed towards this project to preserve and record historical records.

Genealogy Sunshine Coast

wishes to acknowledge the valuable support of the

for our most recent grant for the purchase of a colour multifunction copier.

Our first publication using this high quality copier will be the People of Maroochy which is due to be launched in August 2009.

The copier is expected to be installed very soon and we are looking forward to the many new features of this technology which will bring a high quality to the publications of our  group and its many members.
