Honeymoon in Europe

Immediately after the wedding, we spent a week in Europe -- 4 days in Paris, 3 days in Munich, and an overnight layover in London. We had a wonderful time!

In Paris, we stayed at the Hotel du Petit Moulin in Le Marais (3rd Arr.). It's really the perfect boutique hotel. Our room's decor was fabulous. The hotel was designed by Christian Lacroix, and each of the 20-or-so rooms are completely different. The bed was comfy, with plenty of pillows and a fluffy duvet. The bathroom was very clean with lots of natural light. The hotel staff was friendly, spoke great English, and were very accommodating. They allowed us to check in at 10AM when we first got there, gave us great restaurant recommendations and directions, and was very pleasant to one of our friends (who lives in Paris) who wanted to get a hold of us. We stayed in the Superieur room for 250 euros (~$340 on 10/10/08) a night. I highly recommend this hotel!

In Munich, we stayed at the Tryp Hotel Munchen, a Sol Melia hotel. It was a pretty standard hotel -- nothing special. The bed was 2 twin beds pushed together, and the bathroom was a bit run-down. But it was available during Oktoberfest and was very close to the Theresienweise! We stayed in their base room for ~150 euros (~$204 on 10/10/08) a night (the rate went up the closer we got to Oktoberfest). I'd recommend this hotel only if you're there during Oktoberfest and it's not your honeymoon. =)

In London, we stayed at The Trafalgar, a Hilton Hotel, in Trafalgar Square. This hotel was chic and modern, with a great rooftop bar. The room was really big, and had a large bathroom. I think it's because we paid with American Express points, but our room had a bottle of champagne and a plate of berries and chocolate waiting for us. The bathroom was very clean, with a separate tub (which was huge!) and shower. Like in the Hotel du Petit Moulin, the bed was comfy, with plenty of pillows and a fluffy duvet. The hotel staff made some great restaurant recommendations, but we ended up eating in the hotel restaurant (it was a great meal). We stayed in a Standard room, which ordinarily goes for 159 pounds (~$270 on 10/10/08) a night.
