Welcome!

We are excited about what God is doing in our midst in regards to children's ministry!

Here are some verses that remind us of the importance of what we are doing every Sunday:

Psalm 78:

Give ear, O my people to my teaching,

Incline your ears to the words of my mouth

I will open my mouth in a parable:

I will utter dark sayings from of old.

Things that we have heard and known,

That our fathers have told us

We will not hide them from their children,

But tell to the coming generation

The glorious deeds of the LORD, and His might,

And the wonders that he has done.

He established a testimony in Jacob,

And appointed a law in Israel,

Which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children

That the next generation might know them

The children yet unborn

And arise and tell them to their children

So that they should set their hope in God

And not forget the works of God,

But keep his commandments

We are grateful that God has given us new tools as we tell the next generation of the glorious deeds of the Lord and His might, and the wonders He has done! Why? So that they should set their hope in God and not forget His works, but keep His commandments.  God is raising up the next generation of leaders, and He allows us to be part of that process.  What an awesome and humbling responsibility.

Here is how Charles Spurgeon defines the importance of teaching children in His book "Come Ye Children"

"The best of the church are none too good for this work.  Do not think because you have other service to do that therefore you should take no interest in this form of holy work, but kindly, according to your opportunities, stand ready to help the little ones, and to cheer those whose chief calling is to attend to them.  To us all this message comes: “Feed My lambs.”  To the minister, and to all who have any knowledge of the things of God, the commission is given.  See to it that you look after the children that are in Christ Jesus.  Peter was a leader among believers, yet he must feed the lambs.

The lambs are the young of the flock.  So then, we ought to look specially and carefully after those who are young in grace."
"Christian children mainly need to be taught the doctrine, precept, and life of the gospel: they require to have Divine truth put before them clearly and forcibly.  Why should the higher doctrines, the doctrines of grace, be kept back from them?... It is ours to make doctrine simple; this is to be a main part of our work.  Teach the little ones the whole truth and nothing but the truth; for instruction is the great want of the child's nature"

God has been very kind to give us great tools in this new curriculum and format.  We are praying that He will also raise up workers to feed His lambs.

We have uploaded links to samples of the God's Story Curriculum so that you will be able to preview it and see why we are so excited about implementing this Gospel-centered curriculum that will teach the whole truth to our children.

  • We have included the Table of Contents for the Old and New Testaments to give you all of the lessons and Bible references that are taught in the 3 year curriculum.

  • There is a lesson for the both the Grade School (which will be taught in the assembly) and the preschool (which will be taught in classrooms.)  In addition, there is a preschool assembly lesson, which at first will be used in the classroom with the curriculum, but at some point may grow into another assembly for the younger children.

  • There are teacher guidelines for both the preschool and the grade school which are tips on how to use the curriculum.  Again, note the inclusion of a preschool assembly, whose activities will be done in the classroom rather than in a large group.

  • Get Into the Story is the devotional that will either be sent home each week, or available for download from the church website each week, so that you can reinforce the lessons that all of your children have learned, and help them apply the lessons to their lives.
  •
  • We have also uploaded the Assembly Proposal that we prepared to outline what we are doing, which includes the vision and job descriptions and other needs, as well as a Priority List, which lists the positions that are vital to begin, as we will not have enough ministry teams to staff all positions for all weeks.  Then as we grow, we can work up to the point where we have all teams all weeks.
Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the curriculum, the assembly, or if you would like to sign up to serve on one of the ministry teams.  Please pray that God will lead the right people to the right positions. We will be having the sign up sheets out very soon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to invest in your children's faith.  We appreciate the opportunity to come alongside you and help sow the seeds of the gospel into the next generation.
