Grant County Arts Council

Our Beginnings, Our Mission

Grant County Arts Council Inc. is a 501-c-3 nonprofit volunteer organization bringing quality arts and history events to our community and our schools. Formed in 1977 and headquartered in Petersburg, West Virginia,  GCAC provides our citizens events in instrumental and vocal music, dance, theater, visual arts, historical enactments, literature, poetry, storytelling and crafts. We make it our special mission to cooperate with educators in hosting quality arts events in the schools to supplement and support the arts and history curricula.

GCAC combines money raised from local memberships with financial assistance from businesses, state and local governments, PTOs and grant foundations. We are extremely proud of and grateful to our many dedicated volunteers who help in many ways, from providing refreshments to site preparations for events.

We are happy to have financial assistance from several granting sources: The West Virginia Commission on the Arts, the Pennsylvania Performing Artists on Tour, the West Virginia Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

GCAC complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Persons needing assistance at GCAC events may contact us at P.O. Box 988, Petersburg, WV 26847, or email us at
