| After a legendary breakfast, set off towards Wybunbury for lunch. Joining an A road, JP pulled out in front of a truck, JR tried to overtake the same truck into the path of another oncoming artic, both prompting some well-earned abuse from the terrified driver, only to then to have the indignity of SM shouting TRUCKER at him while overtaking on the inside. At least I think that's what he shouted. Stopped in Newport, to buy the town's supply of neoprene knee supports. 47.4 miles, in 3 hours, at 15 mph in the saddle. Very pretty cycle routes, lovely ride, and set off thinking we were in for another 25 miles after lunch. This turned into another 43 miles. JP bonked at Jodrell Bank, revived by NN's homemade power bars. Oh yes. Finally arrived in the outskirts of Manchester, thinking we were home and dry, only to be led over footbridges, along dirt tracks, over cattle grids, tank traps and finally over brutal cobbles by Scott, to finish off a 90 mile day. 5 hours 49 in the saddle, 15 mph.
