GBeCS is a public school, but does not get funded in the same way that other public schools in NH do.  Along with the State, per child, funding that all NH schools receive, "traditional" public schools get significant additional funding from their towns/districts via their local taxpayers when the local budgets are approved by their voters.  GBeCS is required to accept students from any district, not just the local ones, but does not have the ability to reach out to the voting taxpayers for any additional funds.  Since its founding, GBeCS has relied heavily on the generosity of the Cooperative School District taxpayers, with full support from the Cooperative School Board, to supplement the needs that are not adequately funded with the State money.  The other towns and school districts that send their students, our children, to GBeCS are under no such obligation to provide any additional funding and/or support.  And, most don't.  These towns are raising, and then spending, thousands of additional taxpayer dollars, per student, to educate only those children who go to school within their town.  However, those additional tax dollars that you are paying do not follow along to support his or her education when your child attends GBeCS,

We are working on getting as much budget and funding information posted as possible, so that parents will be better able to understand the issues affecting the sustainabily of GBeCS and how you can participate, in your home town, and have your opinion matter.

We will be gathering and adding information as soon as we can.  If you have additional information that you'd like to share, please contact us.
