Scouters,

The new Irene Rover Crew is looking at running a provincial wide JOTI/JOTA event this year over the weekend of the 19th to 21st of October. At this stage, we'd just like to gauge interest from the Province for this event to see what kind of numbers we would be looking at. We are looking at hosting the event at the Swartkops air force base.

Kon Tiki 2012 is still on track to happen on the weekend of 25th - 27th May at Arrowe Park. The site has been contoured and the water has dried up. Contingency plans have been looked at in case it is too cold on the water. A decision regarding the temperature on the water will be taken at Kon Tiki by informed people.  Please watch the emails for updates from the Chief Judge and the Camp Chief.

Kim Shield Staffing Request - 3rd Request

posted 2 Apr 2012 08:50 by Jo Gruneberg

Afternoon all,

Kim Shield 2012 is only a few weeks away and we are still looking for some base leaders to assist us. You are receiving this mail as you either assisted on Kim Shield in 2011 or you are on my mailing list, or both.

We have filled half the base and now need a further 10 base leaders to make the event the success is has grown to become.  If you are able to assist then please respond via mail to me. We are looking for Scout skills bases and fun bases for the scouts to participate in, so come up with an idea and let me know what you would like to do.

I have attached a letter that has been sent to adult leaders previously, to give you a bit more background too.

Cycling for Scouting

posted 2 Apr 2012 08:40 by Jo Gruneberg

Hi there,

Last year I organised the event cycling for scouting, and I believe there are many people who are interested in taking part this year.

I would like to do it again for any interested members with the aim of creating awareness that scouting is still out there, as well as to raise funds.
These funds will be put back into scouting by creating "boxes" for new packs or troops, as well as those that might be struggling with regards to equipment.
On that note if anyone has a pack or troop they feel needs this, please contact me.

If anyone would like to get involved with this project in regards to organising certain aspects or new ideas, please mail me at cyclingforscouting@gmail.com.
