Kim Shield - A Challenging Weekend, a fun Weekend.
Mark Shute
(now 12) participated in a Springbok Community Service Project (run by James
Clacherty) at this safe house in Ivory park last year. During his time at the
house he noticed that many of the children did not have good or sufficient
clothes to look both respectable and warm.
Very soon
after his work there he approached the 1st Greenside Committee chair and then
his school (KEPS) and collected several bags of clothes and toys for these
children. He then followed up this year with another collection drive and
delivered 28 bags for these children on Good Friday.
This safe
house has been through its fair share of problems from lack of funds for food
and basic electricity costs, to the power cables being stolen last year. Mark has
made a big difference to the lives of these children. Well done Mark.
