Lover of the Lord

My offering to Srila Prabhupada - Vyasapuja 2009

Hare Krishna, Srila Prabhupada, Leaf

Please accept my humble obeisance, all glories to you.

My first contact with you was in the temple while dancing in the kirtan. Devotees would

chant “Jaya Prabhupada, Jaya Prabhupada” and jump in the  air. I was a small child; I

could not understand “who is Prabhupada.” As  years passed, I started preaching to

people about Krishna. I would often start with introducing you. I would tell people how you

struggled to establish ISKCON, about the
books you had written, about your traveling

and preaching to the western world, about your

determination to follow the instruction of your

spiritual
master, and so on. I like to read your

pastimes and hear
from different devotees about

you. Day after day, I am
becoming more aware of

your exceptional contribution to
Lord Chaitanya

Mahaprabhu's movement and I appreciate
your

genuine concern for the lost living entities of this

world.
I was living in Pune ISKCON temple for a

few years. There I was given a service to take
care of your murti. Sometimes in my mind, I
would simply talk with you about philosophy
and some important principles in Krishna

consciousness. In that way, I would feel you as
person. If I understand properly, in your

mission you gave special emphasis to preaching
the message of Lord Chaitanya, hearing

about Krishna and chanting His holy name, thus I
have been trying to engage myself to

contribute to this noble work. I feel your presence in
my day-to-day life. I remember and

think about you, when I hear Srimad-Bhagavatam,
when I read your books, when I prepare

for my classes. Apparent reversals in my spiritual
life do not discourage me when I think

about your sacrifices for Lord Chaitanya's
movement. Srila Prabhupada, you kept Krishna

in the centre above personal pleasures. I
would like to follow your example and learn some

lessons from your life, for myself and to
teach others. The one thing which I would like to

do to please you is to preach in the
West. For the next few years my vision is to be true to

your expectations with honesty and
humility. My mission is to systematically train myself

in knowledge, skills, and values; I
will do my best to sincerely work hard under the

guidance of qualified devotees.

Thank you Srila Prabhupada. All glories to you!

Your servant,

Gaurahari

The awakened soul says......

The awakened soul says in effect to the mind and body: "I am not identical with you. I do

not want what you require. I have so long believed that I was identical with yourselves and

that our interests were the same, but I now find that I am really and categorically different

from you. I am made wholly of the principle of self consciousness, while both of you are

made of dead matter. Being matter you can act and be acted upon by matter, under the

laws of nature. Nature makes and unmakes you, but she has no power over me. I am not

benefited by your growth or harmed by your decay. You grow and decay by the laws that

govern your relationships with this physical universe. Falsely identifying myself with you, I

find myself compelled to suffer pain and pleasure due to the physical vicissitudes and

problems that overtake you. I find myself unnaturally yoked to your functions such as

eating, drinking, producing thought etc etc and am forced to believe them to be my own

functions by which I am benefited. I shall have, of course, to stay with you as long as it is

intended by providence that I should suffer the consequence of this unnatural alliance with

you. But I shall, from this time, do nothing to please you. I shall permit you to do only what

I consider to be necessary for my well-being; that is getting back into my natural position of

free conscious existence, unhampered by the unnatural domination by longing for material

enjoyment. I refuse to be anymore a slave to the sensuous inclinations of the mind and

body."

Take away my will krsna

Prayers by bhakti tirth maharaj

Take away my will krsna, I am yours.Force me to do what is right and best.

Use me as you like. You be my intelligence .You be my mind. You act as my will.

I don't know what is best for me .In this case I am trying so hard and nothing is working.

I ask you to put me in right place, at the right time, for the right thing.Whatever is best, whether it is auspicious or inauspicious,Bring upon me what I need.

My desires, my intelligence, even my will, they all are contaminated.I offer them all to you, my dear Lord Shyamsunder. I am yours.

You do with me what is best. Help me to be eager to accept not in a grudging mood, but with real zeal and enthusiasm, as I submit myself and ask what can I do?

 [2]

My dear Lord Syama, please kindly hear my cry. Grant my devotional desires and eliminate my undevotional desires. I am your instrument; please make me worthy enough to serve You in all circumstances.

May the Lord, who is known as Maniman, protect my thighs. Protect them from evil, from Maya, and give them protection so that the mind does not allow them to be a source of captivating the opposite sex.

May Lord Visnu, who is known as Yajna, protect my legs. Let my legs do only duties that are meant for Your glorification and for the glorification of my gurudeva. Dear Sweet Lord, please direct them in auspicious directions.

May Lord Acyuta protect my arms. Use them only for Your divine service and nothing more. Dear Lord, please protect them from all unnecessary and inauspicious activities.

May Lord Hayagriva protect my abdomen. Dear Lord let it be used for eating only things offered at Your Lotus Feet and please protect whatever I take into it. Allow me to eat only things that can sustain me to serve You more and serve You better.

May Lord Kesava protect my heart. Please Lord, make my heart an eternal dwelling place of the Sweet Love of the Divine Couple. Please make my heart an abode of surrender, humility, dedication, and selflessness. Make my heart grow only in love of Your Supreme Majesty and allow Your pastimes to eternally remain blissful in my heart.

May Lord Isvara protect my head. May He only allow me to use my head in working for His glorification. Bless this lowborn head of mine and give me knowledge of how to serve and please You better.

May Lord Cakradhara protect my front and may Lord Gadadhara protect my back. More at this time of chaos and problems in the movement. Please dear Lord, kindly protect me from all material influences from any direction. Protect me with Your love and Divine Strength.

May Lord Visnu, with His conchshell, protect my left side. May the Supreme Godhead Upendra protect me from above and may Lord Tarksya protect me from below the Earth. May Lord Haladhara protect me from all sides.

May Lord Madhusudana, who carries a bow in His hand, protect my eyesight. The eyes are the major object of false gratification—a quick route to hell. Please dear Lord, kindly guide my vision. Protect my eyes from Maya, and please protect them from the scenes that can pollute my mind and make it go crazy. Please put them under Your full protection and divine control.

May the Supreme Lord, in His Hrsikesa form, protect all my senses. May He engage all my senses only in service. Protect them from all contamination and entangling pleasures. Let them be used only to please You. Tie them against any material nonsense and release them only when they are to serve You.

May Lord Narayana protect my breath. May He encourage me to only use my breath for appreciating things offered at Your Divine Feet.
May Lord Yogesvara, in His divine mystic potentiality, protect my mind and intelligence. This is the greatest of all senses. Please dear Lord, control this rascal entity and make it a place where only Your pastimes are being relished and appreciated. Dear Lord, close up all false entrances of my mind. Cleanse it of all inauspicious thoughts and always check any such thoughts, as I am a fool who does not know how auspicious and purifying it is to meditate on Your Divine Form.

Dear Lord Krishna, please protect my soul. While sleeping, may Lord Madhava protect me from all dangers and may the Supreme Personality of Godhead, in His Nrshma form, protect me from all evils, all danger, all inauspiciousness, and all illusions.

Dear Lord, I humbly beg that You daily and eternally hear these my prayers and ultimately make me Your useful, dedicated eternal servant and a devoted son of my beloved Spiritual Master, Om Visnupada Paramahamsa His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. May His love be my source of inspiration and may I learn to eternally be a humble servant of my beloved spiritual master.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Past, present and future

noticing the wondering

He is the truth of truth

and cause of causes

He deserves his devotees glorification

Birthday Poem to Radharani

Radhe, If I get one dust (your dear servant) of your lotus

feet, that will make my life

My mind is restless, how can I worship you

As much I try to make it understand

That much it rebels

Brahma is understood after a lot of austirity

Paramatma is realized, after a lot of contemplation

Bhagavana is the culmination of yoga

He is hidden in Vedas. He is the secrete,

you are secrete of the secrete

Your realization is far beyond, exceeding all others

You are the internal potency of Krsna

Krsna is Madanmohan, you are madanmohan mohini

He attracts cupid, you attract Krsna

I know not what more to say Radhe !

On this auspicious day, please accept

Happy Birthday

Poem by Nammalvar

                                       Nammalvar

[1]

We here and that man, this man

And that other in between,

And that women, this woman,

And that other, whoever,

Those people, and these,

And these others in between,

This thing, that thing,

And this other in between, whichever,

All things dying, these things,

Those things, those others in between,

Good things, bad things,

Things that were, that will be,

Being all of them,

He stands there

( 1.1.4)

[2]

Shedding pleasure
displeasure
birth illness
age and death

when will I join
lit like a flame

Those congregations
of my lord of illusions

my lord
who shelters the raining sky
and this earth
with his conch shell and wheel of fire

(2.3.10)

[3]

Master of illusion

With no one equal
or above

Form and breath of all things

becoming mother and father
you made me know
what I couldn't know

I do not even know
the things you've done for me

[4]

Would I, sinner that I am,
rather enter the fragrance,
the lotus feet
of our lord

divine dwarf
making great his little body
till it overwhelms
all three worlds,

when my masters,
his great servants
who have taken on small
human lives,

are content to roam this world?

(8.10.3)  -------- {Ramanuja, 1981, 122}

Note: Nammalvar is considered the foremost of the Alvars, (the term alvar, “[one] immersed in god”; the root verb al means “to immerse, to dive; to sink, to be lovered, to be deep.” In other words alvar means one who loves God) well-known for his many hymns on devotion to Krishna. His name can translate as "our own Alvar," The word ‘Nam’ means ‘our own.’ It is a mark of the love and regard people felt for Him.
