Move Block: This is among the simplest blocks in NXT Mindstorms. It allows you to turn the motors on your robot. You have the options to make it turn the A, B, or C motor up or down. If you are using two motors it allows you to steer. The B and C motors are the best for driving the robot because they have an automatic compensation mechanism. To tell the robot how far you want it to move, you need to experiment with three units, time, rotations, and degrees. Degrees are basically more specific rotations. Another variable is power, you can vary the power from 0-100%, around 3/4 is a good balance. The robot will go at a decent speed but the speed will not be too reliant on the charge of the robot.
Motor Block: This is mainly for your third motor, the one you use to do things other than moving the robot. This does not have the automatic compensator, but this can also be good because the automatic compensator can sometimes mess up, and decrease the power to early, resulting in your robot stopping short of its mark. The motor block has the option to ramp up or down the power.
Sound Block: This block allows you to play a sound. They have a variety of noises, but be careful when using them, because they take up a LOT of space. Sound blocks can be useful in debugging, you can place them to see what action has been completed and where your program is getting stuck.
