Sharepoint

Sharepoint is the newest software Microsoft has released that effectively replaces Frontpage as a web-authoring tool. Our district has a customized template used for each school and teacher website and soon will rollout a district website and portal also using Sharepoint.

If you are a teacher wanting a new website, please attend the Sharepoint training at your school offered by a Pinnacle Leader. You will be required to register for this session at least one week in advance in order to attend. Each template has to be created for you, so again, training will not occur for you if you do not register in time. If you are not aware of training opportunities occuring, please contact your Instructional Technology Facilitator who can determine the Pinnacle Leader responsible for your school.district website as well as its teacher websites. In the past, we have used Frontpage for district sites and a wide variety of tools for teacher webpages such as PiNet, Scholastic, and Google Page Creator. However, Frontpage is now replaced in the Microsoft world by several applications including Sharepoint, Sharepoint Designer and Expression Web. PiNet and Page Creator are no longer supported by their respective creators.

As of this writing, teachers have had training available for the last several months on their websites as have webmasters on school level sites. The district website and portal are currently being developed to house them.

The attached is the powerpoint presentation from training as well as the labs conducted throughout.
