Garnock Hockey Club was formed in 1975 as, "Old Speirians" - it was named after a beautiful old grammar school, Speirs School, in Beith, which was demolished in 1973.  This was  replaced by a comprehensive school, Garnock Academy and the Club was renamed, "Garnock", in 1978.  The Club was to be renamed, "Eglinton", in later years, but it reverted to, "Garnock", in 2008.

Garnock competed in National League hockey competitions from the mid eighties until the early nineties.  Games were played at Lochshore in Kilbirnie until 1991, the year Meadowside Park in Beith was opened, and this has been Garnock's home ground since.

During its time, the Club has produced several players who have gone on to gain international honours representing Scotland.

At present, Garnock competes in Division 1 in the Women's West District.
