Jozini (Area 17) Water Supply Scheme

Engineering firms have recently been invited to design Jozini’s latest infrastructure scheme, The Area 17 Water supply scheme.

The invitation for proposals for the detailed design was advertised in Late October, and a number of proposals were received on the 21st November. The adjudication of these tenders is due to be completed before the 10th December.

This vital scheme incorporates pipelines, water storage and communal tap stands for an area covering over 6km2 to the South of Jozini, bringing clean, safe water to over 1000 households.

The project is being implemented by the Jozini Local Municipality Technical Department in its first Water Supply Scheme to date, and is funded to the tune of approximately R3 million by Project Consolidate; a scheme which assists Local Municipalities with funding for essential projects such as this.

It is hoped that the project will be the first of a number of water projects to be implemented to bring clean, safe drinking water to the people of Jozini Local Municipality.
