News: We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friends and colleagues. Principal, Michael Casey, along with wife, and former teacher, Jillian Schuessler were killed in a tragic plane accident along with their two children Makalya and Bryce Casey. Founder of Gallon Jug Community School, Sir Barry Bowen, also passed away in the tragic accident on February 26th, 2010. The teachers, students, and community of Gallon Jug are carrying on the vision and mission that Mr. Michael Casey established, and devoted 10 years of his life towards. We miss them, and will cherish all that we have learned from them. Donations can be made to the Gallon Jug Community School Scholarship Fund in memory of Miss Jill and Mr. Mike at the Eastern Bank, 340 Front St., P.O. Box 517, Marion, MA 02738. GJCS Gallon Jug Community School was established in 1989 and serves the community of Sylvester Village and Chan Chich. We are located in northern Belize in the Orange Walk District. The school was established by Mr. Barry Bowen and Ms. Dixie Bowen. The school is now a K-8 program with yearly enrollments averaging 75 students. Mission Statement Here in Gallon Jug we are committed to encouraging the development of the student in a least restrictive environment as a team of educators, parents, and community.

Welcome to the Gallon Jug Community School Web page
The Gallon Jug Community School GJCS) offers students a challenging K-8 program that prepares them for life in the greater Belizean society as life long learners. Students have the opportunity to study in a small classroom setting with an average student to teacher ratio of 15:1. Students must meet the standardized tests established by the Belize Ministry of Education in order to graduate. The surrounding environment of Gallon Jug offers students a wonderful atmosphere to learn in and utilize to maximize educational opportunities. Gallon Jug Community School is located in Northwestern Belize on the Gallon Jug Estate. The Gallon Jug Estate comprises 130,000 acres of protected rain forest habitat.
