How to Succeed:
Biology is a demanding course of study which requires effort and perseverance. My goal is to teach each student life-long study skills that can be used in any course. The following is a list of recommendations to help each student do his or her best in this course and others.
· Come to class. A great deal of work is done each day. Labs should not be missed unless absolutely necessary. · Pay Attention. Learning is not a spectator sport. Concentrate and give each task your best effort. · Stay Organized. Bring your three-ring binder each day with notes and handouts easily accessible. A homework folder should also be used. · Keep up with Labs and Assignments. Do your work as it is assigned. Place graded labs in your lab folder promptly to prevent losing them. · Drink, Eat, and be Merry. Keep yourself hydrated and eat meals and healthy snacks. Get enough sleep to promote long-term memory and a good disposition! · Ask Questions. Identify concepts that you do not understand and ask for help. Biology Study Club meets after school. · Study!!! Review your notes, assignments, labs and projects to help you master each unit. Use strategies that work well for you such as: index cards, peer or parent quizzing, drawing pictures, chunking, rhyming, etc. |
