A4 Mod Progression

 

First Mod - added BBS RX wheels. 1998 Minnesota.


 Added 996 Calipers, K04 Turbo, Borla Exhaust, Neuspeed sway bar, Koni shocks and H&R Sport Springs. 1999 Moved to California.

 Updated to Oettinger RE 18" wheels to clear 996 brakes without spacers. 2001

Racetec FMIC stuffed under stock bumper. 2002 

Decided to run NASA time attack.  Major push on mods.  Safety first. Autopower roll bar and Cobra Imola race seats. Had Schroth belts, soon updated to Crow 5-point belts.  2006.

Bolted up some Penske suspension from Startup Racing and Istook adjustable arms. Dramatic change. 2006

What three degrees of negative camber looks like. 

New Brembo's clear the RE's with no spacer.  

Update brakes again.  Brembo 332 x 324 piston kit. Chronos need a 5mm spacer to clear.  Had already updated rears to S4 discs and calipers. 2007

Upgraded to GT28RS turbo with APR hardware, PES software. 2006

Air conditioning is for pussies.  Out it goes after the FMIC wears a hole through the condenser. 2006

Turbo came apart at the NASA Willow Springs Time Trial.  Rebuilt. 2006

 

135,000 miles, 60 track days and running double it's OE horsepower and the motor finally gives up the ghost at California Speedway. It does it in style at full boost coming up the front straight. 2007

After nearly a year the new motor with scat rods is installed along with a rebuilt turbo.  Tuning and break-in is done. Back to the track! 2008

Engine: New 1.8T motor with Scat rods, GT28RS Turbo, APR Manifold, 430cc Genesis Injectors, PES software, , shotgun test pipe, Borla cat-back. GenIII  SPP Racetec FMIC w/Samco hoses, Mesa oil cooler.
Suspension: Penske Racing with Eibachs, Front 800lb., Rear 950lb. and adjustable Istook arms.
Clutch: AWE 12lb. alum flywheel, six puck Stage IV Clutchmasters disc.
Front Brakes: 332mm x 32mm Two Piece Brembo Rotors, 4-Piston Brembo Brakes, Goodridge SS lines. Pagid Blue or ST42 race pads.
Rear Brakes: 266mm vented S4 rotors with S4 calipers.  Goodridge SS lines.  OEM rear pads.
Wheels: 18" Oettinger RE (street) or 17" OZ Racing Chronos (track).
Tires: Bridgestone S03 225/40/18 ,  Toyo RA-1  235/45/17 ,  or Nitto NT-01
Interior: Cobra Imola S Race Seats, Autopower roll bar. Rear seat removed. Custom Pedals, Crow 5-point belts, Boost Gauge, Zeitronics Air/Fuel, EGT gauge and datalogger.
Other:
Wheel stud kit, S4 master and booster 

Exterior: Reiger front bumper  ABT sides, S4 rear, Vorsteiner  carbon fiber hood. Track Wt.: 2,950 lbs. (no driver)
