Attention, Branch Presidents
Conversations 2009 has begun

State board members are calling and/or e-mailing to check on the well being of your branch, and you may already have received an e-mail or phone call to schedule your conversation.

Your state board wants to know about your branch successes, concerns and problems. We want to hear your response to the proposed Bylaws changes. We are conducting these conversations to listen to YOU as you respond to the questions that were in the October 2008 online FYI.

Conversations will be brief, approximately 20 minutes. If you need another set of Conversations questions, e-mail Toni Hoffman at admindir@aauwpa.org, and she will e-mail or snail-mail you a copy.

Co-Presidents’ Invitation to Annual Meeting 2009

Deb Roney & Kate Sweeney
AAUW-PA Co-Presidents

Please join us in Lewisburg on Saturday, April 25, for the 2009 AAUW-PA Annual Meeting.

This one-day event offers support from Association and state leaders as we discuss bylaws changes, conduct state business, and provide two optional leadership-training workshops.

Sally Chamberlain, our special guest from Association, will help us think through the proposed bylaws changes. This is a strategic year; we all need to understand and influence where AAUW is going.

Please a our invitation and come to Lewisburg for the day. It will be informative, energizing, and engaging. Don’t miss it!

A quick word of encouragement - Please fill out the PA Every Member Survey (EMS).

Your responses will be counted up to May 15. Be aware that if you are completing the survey online, you may go back in and update earlier answers as long as you are using the same computer. Also, survey questions allow for Yes, No, and Not Sure responses.

Be advised that voting "Not Sure" will make it hard for state delegates to know your wishes when they vote on your behalf at the Association convention in St. Louis.

Note from Co-Presidents

At the request of the Association Bylaws Chair, the AAUW-PA board agreed to delete the following sentence in Article V, Section 7, from the AAUW-PA Bylaws: The Association shall rebate to each state the amount of state dues for each College/University (C/U) representative in the state. This change brings our state bylaws into compliance with Association bylaws. The revised version is posted on the state website for your use.

The state board will discuss the future handling of C/U partner membership after the June AAUW convention in St. Louis where the Association Bylaws proposals will be debated and voted on. We hope you can attend that convention or will take part in the discussion of those proposals and make your voice heard.
