Emma Nicholson - Artistic Director
Emma trained with the London School of Puppetry, she is a performer, workshop leader and director who works internationally on a variety of projects, leading workshops & productions around the UK as well as Africa and Japan!
![]() For 9 years Emma has lead several local youth theatres including The Caxton Youth Theatre which have won many awards under her direction, the Illuminate Youth Theatre in Gainsborough, Ropewalk Youth Theatre in Barton, Scunthorpe Youth Theatre and now Fusion Youth Theatre, a group which she set up through her company Fusion Theatre & Arts. Several of her productions with FYT have won major awards at the Skegness Youth Drama Festival, including The Wakefield Mysteries in 2005 and Riding the Rainbow in 2008 she also organises a trip to the Big Youth Theatre Festival in London every July. Emma is a drama consultant for nominated teachers in Primary Schools, she provides training, mentoring and support for the teachers to develop their own creative project with the children. Emma also works as an Arts Award Advisor at Lindsey School & Community Arts College. As a performer, Emma has worked and devised with Tell Tale Hearts on their research and devel opment of A Story for All Seasons, a highly successful production in 2005/6. She creates solo work in puppetry and has toured her work to ![]() the Bath Puppetry Festival, Bournmouth University, London's Foundling Museum, The Buxton Puppet Festival and North Yorkshire.. She recently toured schools in a new Black Light Theatre show, Arctic Antics, created by Tell Tale Hearts and commissioned by the Music & Performing Arts Service with North East Lincolnshire Council. Emma delivers many workshops in drama, mask, puppetry and other theatre related topics! S he has delivered puppetry workshops for the Arts Development Unit in North East Lincolnshire, for the Lincoln Book Festival and also for the Big Youth Theatre Festival in London. Clee Cluster and North Lincolnshire Arts Development regularly book her for drama and theatre workshops. She has organised several large events across the region including the Fishermens Memorial Ceremony in Grimsby in 2005, The North East Lincolnshire Arts Forum Festival in 2006 and The Buzz - Youth Arts Festival in Scunthorpe, 2007 & 2008. Emma is about to take her production of 'Chomp - A Zombie Musical' to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009.

Scott Middleton - Director/Technician Scott is the co founder and director of Fusion Theatre & Arts for which works as a photographer, actor and technician. Over the past 7 years Scott has assisted in projects with the Caxton Youth Theatr Scott is responsible for most of the photography on this site and images from productions can be purchased from him as well as CD's of production photos. He has worked as Venue Manager for Shakespeare Schools Festival, Festival co-ordinator for the Buzz Youth Arts Festival in Scunthorpe and also technician for WaxBaby Productions tour of SatirEyes in 2007. Scott was one of the workshop leaders for the BBC Blast tour in this area, delivering high quality photography projects. As a performer, Scott is mostly known for his many roles in various independent films including the highly innovative 'Triple Jeopardy' in 2003, lead role in Inflammable which won the Meniscus Film Festival in 2004, a recent local project - War of the Wolds and also 'I Was Here' for Thin Red Line Productions in which he plays the only character, the film was accepted into a variety of different national film festivals in 2008.
Scott also has plenty of experience on the stage appearing in various Godber comedies as well as other local productions. In June 2009 he has been contracted to direct a production of Antigone in Greece and is also currently working on the technical aspects of 'Chomp - A Zombie Musical' which he is touring to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.
Andy Evans - Writer In 2008, Cleethorpes Playwright Andy Evans had his short play, “Taking A Bullet” commissioned by Hull Truck Theatre with a view to performance at the company's new venue. Andy's play “Moonlight Marionettes” won numerous competitions that same year, thanks to a stellar performance by Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, USA. 2009 will also see a wide range of Andy's work on show both internationally and locally. His prison-ba ![]() sed comedy “Prison's Got Talent” is scheduled for performance by the Caxton Players in June and finally “Chomp” a new zombie musical is being performed by Fusion Youth Theatre at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival during August 2009 as well as further productions of “Moonlight Marionettes” planned in the USA and UK. Andy is a teacher by trade having moved to Grimsby to teach Law at Franklin College followed by a move to John Leggott College, Scunthorpe after three years at Franklin. He remained in the area due his close ties with The Caxton Theatre where Andy was Director of Youth Theatre for over ten years.
In recent years Andy has worked closely with his former protégé from CYT, Emma Nicholson who formed Fusion Theatre and Arts with partner Scott Middleton.
Fusion Youth Theatre have performed several plays written specifically for their youth theatre by Andy, inc lu ding “The Gingerbread Heart”, “The Queen Who Would Be King” and “Riding The Rainbow” which won Best Production and Best New Writing at the Skegness Youth Drama Festival in 2008.
He was also involved in their recent film project, working with the young people to produce a story and script called 'Reflections' which will be finished in 2009.
| Alison Traill - Dance & Drama Worker Alison graduated in Performance Theatre in York. Her strength and passion lies mainly within physical theatre and live art, though Alison is talented in all aspects of performances and has many creative and innovative ideas which inspire the people she works with. Throughout herdegree she was able to create and facilitate workshops for a variety of ages and abilities, (from the the age of 5-65). Alison has also been part of the collaboration of a theatre company in York who create and facilitate drama based workshops for women who have suffered the act of domestic violence. Alison has delivered a number of projects on behalf of Fusion, including drama workshops at East Halton Primary School, physical theatre workshops for North East Lincolnshire Councils Arts Development Unit, running Trinity Youth Theatre in Gainsborough and producing a number of high quality productions with the members. Alison is thoroughly interested in being part of creating new work, particularly within the local community, enabling youngsters to recognise their talents both as a group and individually. She is an experienced performer herself, appearing in theatre and dance shows since a young age and also performing her live art as a more recent development. Her first project with Fusion Youth Theatre was to develop a dance show in 2008, 'Impact', which involved a range of contemporary, classical and world dance pieces and also featured live projection throughout the show on the main stage at the Central Hall. She then went on to choreograph the dance sections for their production of 'A Christmas Carol' that same year.Alison works as a dance tutor at Franklin College and has also recently lead a dance project with Students in Spain which received wonderful feedback and is about to tour to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as Choreographer of 'Chomp - A Zombie Musical' |
