Available Dogs

  Deuce (available now!)

Deuce is a year old dachshund/chihuahua/shih-tzu mix.    He weighs around 10 lbs.  Deuce loves to play fetch and tug.  He loves all people, especially children.  Deuce loves to play with dogs of any size and gets along well with cats.  He knows Sit, Wait, Come, and Stay.   I have taken him thru a beginning agility class and he would make a very fast, very good agility dog that could earn a MACH quickly.  He's learning weave poles, can send to a jump or around a standard about 10-15 ft, does tunnels, chutes, has the beginning of running contacts, and is powering to the end of a lowered teeter.  Deuce is VERY smart and learns new things with the clicker quickly.

Deuce has had his vaccines updated and been wormed.  He still needs to be neutered.  There will be no adoption fee for the right home provided they are willing to take on this expense and sign an adoption contract.

Foxy
**ADOPTED December 2011**

Foxy is a 2 year old (born May 2009) female orange/sable Pomeranian.  She is spayed and UTD on vaccinations. Foxy has some fear issues with restraint and handling and requires patience but is able to be groomed, adoption will be on condition that her new owners will work with me for several sessions to transition her over to be comfortable being groomed by them (or for you to be local to me so as to be able to bring her to me for grooming).  She is house trained as long as you let her outside every 2-3 hrs when loose and after any emotional excitement (grooming/visitors coming in), and does not potty in her crate for longer periods (8-9 hrs).  Foxy loves to play fetch and tug.  She loves to rub against your feet like a cat and hop on your lap for attention and petting.   She would do best in a home that has a set routine & can spend time playing and taking her for short walks or hikes. Everybody that meets her remarks on how adorable and cute she is, when she is happy she is a fluff ball of joy.  She gets along well with cats and other dogs, although she would rather play with people most of the time (sometimes she will play with other small dogs and puppies).  Her ideal home would be a retired couple where she can be the center of attention.  She likes kids, but doesn't like a lot of strangers constantly coming in and out.  Foxy will come with her kennel, toys, collar/leash, food, and heartworm & flea medications.

Libby CGC  **ADOPTED October 2011**

Libby is a one year old (born 4/30/10)  liver & white english pointer probably mixed with hound.  She has been spayed and vaccinated, weighs about 55 lbs and 24" tall. Libby is a good-natured, easy-going dog and gentle except for her whip of a tail and occasional stepping on feet with paws, so would recommend that any children be above tail height around her.  You couldn't ask for a sweeter dog and she likes to lean, attempt to slide into your lap, and give kisses, loves everybody.  She sometimes needs to be reminded not to jump.  Cats/small pocket pets are not recommended.  She loves to play and wrestle other dogs but always stops if they don't want to or tell her to quit. She is pretty good with puppies and small dogs and will self-handicap.  Libby has a moderate to high energy level so needs exercise and/or play time every day, some room to move around in.  I recommend a fenced in yard for her, she is good to have days where she just stays at home and isn't walked if she can play in the yard for a couple hours.  She doesn't like to be crated if there's anything interesting going on (or when its not her turn to train and I'm working another dog in front of her) and will moan about it, but otherwise is good.  She can be left alone for short periods in a puppy chew proofed area (no food, shoes, etc) and is completely potty trained.  Libby likes to chew on bones and play fetch.  She is good off-leash and usually stays within 50 feet.  Libby has a great nose and loves to play the "find yer bird" game (pheasant wing).  She could make a great tracking, search and rescue dog or hunting dog with training.

Libby has completed basic obedience training and knows sit, down, stay, come, move, back, wait, place, shake hands, roll over, spin, hand touch, and leash manners.  She has a pretty bomb-proof temperament and while she needs some work on ignoring distractions to be good for public service work she is only interested, not quick to react.  Currently she is in more advanced training for service skills and a formal retrieve, beginning heeling skills (she would be a good obedience or agility prospect - she has had some basic agility training).   Libby passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test in April 2011.

There will be an adoption fee to cover medical and expenses. My preference will be given to a home that will pursue continued training for some type of job for her (whether its service dog work, hunting, SAR, competitive obedience, agility, etc), a home where she will not be crated for more than 8 hours a day, or a home that has an active lifestyle that she can join in on (jogging, hiking, etc).  She comes with her crate, food, and heartworm & flea medications.

Oliver

Oliver - Rally Obedience

   **ADOPTED July 2010**

Oliver is an approximately 2 year old australian shepherd/st bernard mix.   He's aussie-sized at about 23" and
55 lbs.  Oliver has had extensive training and is well mannered in almost all situations.  He has had 2 previous homes, he was rescued by one of my clients from the shelter as a puppy in early 2009.  Due to family issues and having to sell her home, she is being forced to re-home Oliver and her St. Bernard, Murphy.   Oliver is excellent with young children.  He loves to play with other dogs but needs a home that doesn't have any other male dogs, as he has gotten into some fights with Murphy.  He is usually OK with my cat but sometimes likes to chase her.

Oliver has been living a time-share arrangement at his home and at mine as I helped keep him exercised and trained him for competitive obedience.  He has one leg on his RN (Rally Novice) title.  I had been planning on showing him in August in Rally Novice and in Beginner Novice (standard obedience).  I would be willing to continue with a time-share arrangement and continue to show him, or he would make a great starter dog for someone wanting to get involved in the sport.  He has fantastic house manners, is potty trained, doesn't jump, doesn't chew, etc.  Oliver loves to play fetch and tug.  He is a very confident, active, and fun dog.  He is not a couch potato and needs someone who gives him leadership and activities to do (playing, obedience practice, hiking, jogging, etc).  He's calmed down a lot over the last year but needs about 30-45 mins of running time or active playtime a day to keep him at his best.

Oliver - Obedience

Oliver knows: Sit, Down, Stay (proofed - I can "park" him in a class environment), Come, Touch (hand touch), Go to your Crate, Quiet, Watch, roll-over w/ a hand signal, as well as foundation obedience heeling (attention heeling, fronts, finishes, changes of paces, turns, pivots).

Oliver is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm, and flea prevention and is registered with the AKC as a mixed-breed "Canine Partner."

Murphy   **ADOPTED June 2010**

Murphy, at St. Bernard,  is about 3.5 years old.  He was rescued from the pound.  He is over 85 pounds and needs a fenced yard with at least a 6 foot fence.  No cats.  Murphy is really laid back but can be animated and plays well with other dogs.  He is super cute and thinks he is the size of a small dog.  Needs work on the leash to be walked but learns fast.  We just haven’t walked him much with our fenced yard.  He doesn’t prefer to go upstairs and sleeps on the floor (not furniture) and doesn’t have any bad habits (but he does snore, lol).  He has had all of his vaccinations for the year and is on monthly heartworm & flea/tick.  He is excellent with children.

My note: Murphy stayed here for a week while they went on vacation.  He is absolutely the cutest St. Bernard I've ever met, he has a wonderful play bow and head toss when he's excited or playing.  I had no problems with him inside my 4 ft fence, and he did well with the other dogs.  He did go upstairs and pretty much took over the kid's low-to-the-ground futon bed (he really does like to cuddle!).  However he does not try to get on couches, etc.

Dobe    **ADOPTED July 2010**

Dobe is a 2 yr old silver doberman.  He is up to date on his shots but is not neutered yet.  He is still in his first home but is not a good fit for their household and is spending most of his time in an outdoor kennel run.  He is used to the country life and can be intimated by city sights and sounds but would acclimate with regular exposure.  He gets along with other dogs and cats, but would do best in a household with older children because he tends to not acknowledge personal space without a reminder.  He is also a pacer when nervous/excited.  A fenced in yard would be best for Dobe, or someone who would take him running daily.  He is a fairly high energy dog and requires regular exercise and mental stimulation to be calm in the house.  He is very affectionate and loves to be petted.

Dobe stayed for Board & Train in Nov 2009, at that time he was housetrained and knew Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Crate, Place (he needs to be told to go there to settle), and Move (get out of personal space).

Jojo
  **ADOPTED June 2010**

Jojo is a 1 year old male boxer, white with tan spotting, brown eyes, 24" at the shoulder and about 55 lbs.  He has had one previous home where he was best friends with their developmentally disabled daughter.  His family moved to a new home and couldn't bring him with them.  He is very friendly, loves kids, and gets along well with other dogs and cats.  He is enthusiastic about greeting people but doesn't jump, he loves to rest his head in your lap and stare at you with those huge boxer eyes and get kisses on the spot on his forehead.  I feel he has the perfect boxer temperament and embodies (IMO) what a boxer should be.  Energetic, athletic, playful, goofy but intelligent.  Tough physically but submissive to other dogs and to people and highly trainable.  He is fairly active and would do best in a home where he gets lots of playtime daily and is taken for walks or to obedience/agility classes to give him something to do.

Jojo would make a great agility, obedience, or therapy dog.  Preference will be given to homes that have children and/or will pursue one of these activities with him.

He knows Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Shake Hands, Touch (hand touch), Go to your Crate, Off/Move,  Leave It, roll over w/ a hand signal, is house-trained, and walks nicely on leash.   He does well off-leash when I take him hiking.  Jojo has completed the Level 1 Obedience class at HDTC and loved attending classes.  I plan on testing him for the CGC in June if he isn't adopted before then.

I have had him neutered, microchipped, and he is up to date on his heartworm meds and vaccines.  Please contact me for more information or to schedule a time to meet him!  Although he has been wonderful to have around to help teach and entertain boarding dogs and been a great playmate for Gracie, Louie doesn't like him and I don't have enough time or money to train & show him too.  Plus, I really think his calling is to be a companion for kids in some capacity.
