Visit or Volunteer

If you are interested in visiting or volunteering at the Orphanage - please contact us to register your interest.

Examples of activities include: assisting the children with their homework, assisting the Director with teaching the nursery school children, helping staff where necessary with cooking, care-giving...

Any additional activities and ideas are more than welcome!

Criteria: flexible, motivated, and self-reliant.

Please note that we are not a formalised volunteer programme, and that visitors/volunteers would be responsible for their own transport, accommodation and safety/wellbeing.  We may assist with recommendations for transport/accommodation, but there is no overall supervision available.

A big thank you to Alex and Kimberley who volunteered at the Orphanage June-August 2009.

To read more about the local fundraising efforts carried out by Alex in Scotland, see the article written in the local newspaper.

From Kilifi, Kimberley wrote "We did the drawings today.  Most kids drew beautifully coloured pictures of themselves at Fuhara, and aeroplanes as their dream for the future.  Was a great day.  Tomorrow, Alex distributes toothbrushes with a practice/demo.  Also assisted with the homework - will do more of that.  Loving it here :-) Kim"

To view their pictures, see the slide-show below.

Discover the Kenyan Coast and/or Tsavo East:
The orphanage is just a 5-10 min. walk from Kilifi's white-sand beaches.  In addition, Mombasa, Watamu and Malindi are just 1-2 hours away by public transport (local minibuses).
If you would like to discover Kenya's rich wildlife, Tsavo East National Park, famous for its red elephants, makes for a wonderful week-end excursion!
