My name is Hettie Willekes. I've retired from classroom teaching but continue to enjoy spending time with children. I find it rewarding to witness their excitement and growth in confidence when they experience success with learning to read and write.
Tutoring children is deeply satisfying to me. I can be responsive to specific needs and interests and help them open their minds to the world of books and reading.
I've had many years of experience designing challenging and innovative learning materials and programs. I continue to enjoy using my creative abilities in private tutoring.
WHY THE NAME "FUN TO READ LEARN TO READ" ?
Because I'm serious about fun!
Students experiencing difficulty learning to read often find themselves caught in a cycle of failure and tend to avoid activities (such as reading!) that will help them break out of that cycle.
When literacy activities are designed to be fun, engaging, or meaningful, the necessary effort to overcome reading difficulties becomes easier to make.
With experiences of success, learners begin to feel competent and in control. These positive feelings increase motivation and skills improve.
I can help make this happen with tutoring
tailored to your child's ability level, interests, and learning style.
