Mission: Organized in 1982, the purpose of the guild is to provide a supportive environment for persons interested in weaving, spinning, knitting and other fiber arts and to teach and promote the knowledge and use of fiber arts in the community.

Members of the guild participate at various fairs, take part in demonstrations at local schools and are active in The Living Legacies Exhibit sponsored by APVA in Fredericksburg.

FSWG is a member guild of the Handweaver's Guild of America (www.weavespindye.org)

• "Sit and Spin" meetings are held on the Saturday following monthly guild meetings during the months of May and October, usually at 11 AM. Members enjoy one another's company while knitting, spinning, or some doing something fibery.
• Weaving Study group meets the third Saturday of the month at Liberty Town at 10:30 am. There is a nominal $10 fee for this group. In 2009 the group studied a variety of weave structures and in 2010 the focus is on unravelling the mysteries of doubleweave. For 2011 the group examined a variety of lace weaves, from good old Huck to Spot Bronson to Swedish lace! 2012 is the year for Boundweave - little figures and flowers will be appearing on the little guild loom all year long - be sure to take a peek!
